Tiger's Eye is a variety of fibrous quartz from the silicate family, with a chemical composition of SiO₂. Its formation occurs through the process of pseudomorphism: crocidolite fibers (blue amphibole) are gradually replaced by silica, preserving the original fibrous structure. The golden to reddish-brown color results from the oxidation of the iron present in the crocidolite fibers during the mineral replacement process. The characteristic visual effect — chatoyance, or "cat's eye" — is caused by the reflection of light on the parallel oriented silica fibers, generating the mobile light band typical of the species. Hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale. Density: 2.64 to 2.71 g/cm³. Crystalline system: trigonal. The product is sold with a metal base included, ready for display. The measurements and weight stated refer to the complete product (crystal + base). Available variations, approximate data: Weight: 0.140 to 0.600 kg (approx.) Dimensions: 9x4x4 cm to 16x6x6 cm (approx.)
