Cream Calcite — Raw

Cream Calcite is a variety of Calcite (CaCO₃) whose beige to cream color results from the presence of traces of iron oxides and organic matter incorporated during the precipitation and crystallization process. It forms predominantly in sedimentary and hydrothermal environments, where calcium-rich solutions slowly deposit carbonate in cavities, fractures and rock layers. The uniform cream hue indicates low concentration of impurities and stable geochemical conditions during formation, with minimal ionic substitutions in the crystalline structure. Maintains the characteristic physical properties of Calcite, including perfect rhombohedral cleavage in three directions and effervescent reaction upon contact with dilute hydrochloric acid. Hardness: 3 on the Mohs scale. Density: 2.71 g/cm³. Crystalline system: trigonal.
