Chrysolite is a variety of the olivine group, with chemical formula (Mg,Fe)₂SiO₄, corresponding to intermediate to magnesium-rich compositions between the end-members forsterite (Mg₂SiO₄) and fayalite (Fe₂SiO₄). It forms in mafic and ultramafic igneous rocks, such as basalts and peridotites, as well as high-grade metamorphic rocks and meteorites. Its characteristic yellowish-green to olive green color results from the presence of iron (Fe²⁺) partially replacing magnesium in the crystalline structure. The intensity of the green is directly related to the proportion of iron in the composition: the higher the concentration of Fe²⁺, the more intense and darker the green hue. Hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale. Density: 3.2 to 3.4 g/cm³. Crystalline system: orthorhombic. The product is sold with a metal base included, ready for display. The measurements and weight stated refer to the complete product (crystal + base). Available variations, approximate data: Weight: 0.100 to 0.800 kg (approx.) Dimensions: 9x4x4 cm to 16x5x5 cm (approx.)
