Orquídea Calcite is a variety of Calcite (CaCO₃) whose pink to soft lilac color results from the presence of traces of manganese (Mn²⁺) partially replacing calcium in the crystalline structure during mineral precipitation. It forms in hydrothermal and sedimentary environments, often associated with carbonate deposits influenced by fluids rich in manganese. The characteristic tone — which refers to the color of the orchid — varies depending on the concentration and distribution of manganese in the crystalline network, and may present bands or color gradations between light pink and lilac. It maintains the typical physical properties of the species, including perfect rhombohedral cleavage in three directions and an effervescent reaction upon contact with dilute hydrochloric acid. Hardness: 3 on the Mohs scale. Density: 2.71 g/cm³. Crystalline system: trigonal. Available variations, approximate data: 1 to 3 cm — Approx. 0.010 kg — 250 pcs per kg 3 to 6 cm — 0.030 to 0.150 kg — 30 pieces per kg 6 to 15 cm — 0.150 to 0.800 kg — 2 to 3 pieces per kg
