Violet Amethyst Quality B is a variety of quartz (SiO₂) whose violet color results from the presence of traces of iron (Fe⁴⁺) in specific defects in the crystalline lattice, combined with exposure to natural radiation from the surrounding rocks. It forms predominantly in cavities and druses of basalt rocks, hydrothermal veins and pegmatites, where solutions rich in silica and iron slowly crystallize, filling geodes and fractures. The Quality B classification differs from superior qualities due to the higher incidence of inclusions, internal fractures, veils or irregular color distribution, natural characteristics of crystalline growth. The distinction between qualities is exclusively a visual and commercial selection criterion, maintaining the same physical and chemical properties of the species. The mechanical rolling process progressively rounds the ends and corners of the pieces, resulting in a smoothed external profile that preserves the internal crystalline structure. Hardness: 7 on the Mohs scale. Density: 2.65 g/cm³. Crystalline system: trigonal. Available variations, approximate data: Size: 2 to 4 cm Unit weight: up to 0.180 kg (approx.) Average: 10 to 50 pieces per kg (approx.) I considered 0.180 kg in weight (you wrote 0.180g) and expanded “Q.B.” to “Quality B”, as in the previous standard.
